Complete our volunteering application form and start inspiring young people

Please complete the form below as fully as possible to enable us to assess your suitability as a volunteer. Once we receive your application we will send you a Disclosure and Baring Service form to complete and return, you will also receive a username to login to our website where you will find useful documents and sign-up forms for voyages.

Morvargh Sailing Project is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All volunteers are required to be vetted by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

If applying to become a sailing volunteer please let us know which qualifications you hold. If relevant qualifications are not listed below, please add them to your supporting statement.

Section 3 - Medical Information

It is important you declare all medical issues no-matter how minor so we can ensure that you will be safe aboard and when volunteering ashore. If fit and healthy please declare this in each field.

Section 4 - Emergency Contact

Please supply the contact information for a next of kin or emergency contact; They should be contactable 24hrs a day when sailing with us.
Please note: this must not be a family member sailing with you.

Section 5 - Declarations

These declarations must be made by the volunteer if aged 18 or over, or by the parent / guardian if the volunteer is under the age of 18.

Morvargh Sailing Project holds personal data on all it's volunteers and maintaining your trust and confidence is a high priority. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we require your consent to store and share this information where relevant. We will share your information with the following parties:

  • Name, address and contact details for you and your next of kin, your medical & dietary information presented on the vessel crew list when you are afloat. This will be visible to other members of the Afterguard.
  • All of the above, if needed to emergency services personnel.
  • Any information we hold about you to the Police if there are any child protection matters.

We take every precaution to ensure that all paper and electronic information is kept securely stored. Personal and sensitive personal data is stored securely behind a password protected database and firewall. Information is destroyed once it is no longer relevant, however some of your information may be kept for up to 7 years as required by statutory regulations. The information we hold is:

  • Name, address and contact details for you and a next of kin
  • Afterguard voyage assessment forms
  • Afterguard personal training and development records
  • Medical & dietary information
  • Details, and copies of qualifications and endorsements
  • Medical certificates
  • Records of attendance at refits and training weekends
  • DBS information
Section 6 - Media Permissions

Sharing the special moments that happen aboard is massively helpful in promoting the aims and objectives of the Project, especially in being able to record moments to show prospective or current sponsors, funders, or supporters. We need your persmission to take pictures and/or feature you in video we take aboard. This can be withdrawn at any time. People shown in pictures / videos will not be named. We use Facebook, Twitter & Instagram social networking sites.
