The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit is a fantastic annual event where we join a fleet of 60+ vessels taking part in the South West’s largest sailing fundraising event. The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit; is 26 miles of fun sailing as fast as we can out to the Eddystone lighthouse and back!

Although a free event; we ask participants to fundraise for the Project by raising sponsorship. The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit is currently sponsored entirely by a private charitable trust and was first sailed in 2002.   To date the event has raised funds over £800,000, and over £70,000 on average for the past 5 years, benefiting many charities & social enterprises. The funds we raise enable us to continue our work providing inspiring and life changing sail training opportunities to young people.

There is prize money to be acquired throughout the fleet in three categories, Individual, 3-Boat Team event and the 341 Smeaton Trophy Challenge. All yachts are automatically entered in the Individual event and then can become part of a 3 Boat team if they all sail for the same charity.   If it is a single boat from a business with at least three members of the staff from the entering business sailing for one charity it can enter the 341 Smeaton Trophy Challenge, but not both Team and Challenge events.  Each year there is a substantial sum of prize money to be distributed throughout the fleet, All of which goes to the charities & social enterprises nominated.

It is such a great day afloat and you don't need any experience to take part! This event is open to all ages and we normally aim for a mixed crew of both young people and adults.

If selected for the crew you will be asked to help fundraise towards our sponsorship total. We receive a part of the Prize Pot depending on how many sailing (how fast we are) and sponsorship (how much we raise) points we amass and how early you entered.

We hope to see you aboard!

Tall Ships and Yacht Races
Tall Ships and Yacht Races

We have grouped our voyages into categories so you have a better idea as what to expect during the voyage.

Nothing can quite prepare you for the unforgettable atmosphere of racing. Picture yourself sailing on a beautiful Tall Ship, way out at sea, with the waves crashing against the hull, no land in sight, the sun rising behind you, and your closest competitor hot on your heels. Most Races and Regattas are broken down into “legs,” or races. We also enter local regattas and races which are normally a little shorter in length.

  •   Great for everyone, trophies and prizes up for grabs
  •   Visit & Explore amazing places
  •   Week long voyages or longer
